We’re returning NC+ to the West. Who we are. Where we’ve come from. What we stand for. As part of that action, we’re re-introducing the NC+ system for numbering corn hybrids. We’ve gone into the archives. We’ve spoken with past NC+ product managers and salesmen. The result is the number system NC+ was built on. To be clear: the existing, consistent-performing hybrids and varieties you know will not change. But from this point forward, we’re going back to the roots of NC+.
Here are the maturity ranges for our new hybrid numbering system:
1001-1999: RM 93 and below
2000-2999: RM 94-97
3000-3999: RM 98-101
4000-4999: RM 102-105
5000-5999: RM 106-109
6000-6999: RM 110-113
7000-7999: RM 114-117
8000-8999: RM 118 and above
A hybrid for those rough and tumble acres with high variability. A defensive to all purpose placement with a complete agronomic package. Excels and separates in low end to moderate yield environments to comfortably “plant it and forget it”. Has the plant size to take steeper slopes and high plateaus as well as good yield punch in the first and second bottoms. Root, stalk, greensnap tolerance and drought defense lead the way. A strong choice for difficult growing conditions.

We know it has the agronomics, but the yield punch is incredible. Very high and consistent yields in its element of southern Iowa and south half of Illinois. A compact plant that has a broad stance with canopy and deep, rich color. Is simply a sugar factory. A girthy, yet semi-determined ear will excel with higher seeding rates. The overall stress tolerance, particularly the ability to withstand heat and longer periods without rainfall make a strong, yet high-performing hybrid for the central corn belt and mid-south.

Attractive medium-statured hybrid with excellent late-season intactness and stay green. Consistent, girthy ears with looser husk cover and rapid drydown. Hybrid is best adapted to moderate populations with excellent Southern movement. Low green snap risk with impressive bottom end stability. Very good Gray Leaf Spot, Northern Corn Leaf Blight and Southern Rust tolerances. Excellent stalks and roots are protected by very good Anthranose Stalk Rot tolerance. Management is required in heavy Tar Spot areas.

A SmartStax® Pro option with outstanding yield potential out of the gate. Prefer placement on more productive soils with a higher level of management. 13-50 has a flexy, blocky ear type, with tightly packed kernels on a small cob and high kernel count contributes to yield. With the ear flex, we suggest moderate to average seeding rates. Lower risk of greensnap and solid stalks all season long. Excellent grain quality and test weight. Caution in areas with history of heavy Goss Wilt.

A widely adapted hybrid, with east to west fit in a new, Trecepta® hybrid. Big time yield punch in a hybrid that should be placed in your average to best fields. 14-60 is a medium-tall plant style with long, reaching leaves, giving it a lean look with lower greensnap risk and a strong stalk through the season. Blocky, girthy ear style with flex and kernel depth combine to make up the yield. Moderate to average seeding rates are the best population recommendation.

A versatile 114 RM with great southern and western movement. Rapid out of the ground with excellent emergence and robust seedling vigor, taking it to canopy ahead of most. Terrific agronomics led by an outstanding root and stalk combination, along with good greensnap tolerance and a sturdy plant late season. Medium plant stature supports the stalk qualities. Excellent grain quality, test weight and average drydown grain on a semi-flex ear. Best placed in average, above average and high yield environments. Overall good disease package for a southern moving hybrid.

A big, robust, full season hybrid. Provides terrific agronomics and is a proven, yield machine in Iowa and Illinois. We’re taking soybeans back to a familiar place as well. We’re re-introducing the NC+ system for numbering soybean varieties. The existing, consistent-performing varieties you know will not change. But from this point forward, new varieties will feature the trait initial after the maturity number. It's all part of an effort to return to the NC+ you remember.
F2252 is a medium-tall variety which leans on the taller side with very good standability and great pod height to ensure all seeds go in the combine. It contains the Rps1c Phytophthora Root Rot gene with very good field tolerance. This variety has excellent drought and stress tolerance and is the top choice for variable fields and soil types. A solid defense is made up of very good tolerance to Iron Deficiency Chlorosis, Sclerotinia White Mold, Sudden Death Syndrome and Brown Stem Rot.

38F51 is a Medium-Tall plant type with excellent lateral branching and adaptabilty into high yielding situations, especially irrigation and the very good soils of northeast Kansas.
