WE'RE GOING BACK TO OUR ROOTS
We’re returning NC+ to the West. Who we are. Where we’ve come from. What we stand for. As part of that action, we’re re-introducing the NC+ system for numbering corn hybrids. We’ve gone into the archives. We’ve spoken with past NC+ product managers and salesmen. The result is the number system NC+ was built on. To be clear: the existing, consistent-performing hybrids and varieties you know will not change. But from this point forward, we’re going back to the roots of NC+.
Here are the maturity ranges for our new hybrid numbering system:
1001-1999: RM 93 and below
2000-2999: RM 94-97
3000-3999: RM 98-101
4000-4999: RM 102-105
5000-5999: RM 106-109
6000-6999: RM 110-113
7000-7999: RM 114-117
8000-8999: RM 118 and above
A big, rangy hybrid with wide adaptation from east to west. Excellent emergence and vigor provide great establishment on every farm. Will get to canopy early preserving moisture along with good drought tolerance. In season stalk, greensnap, late season intactness with great defense against stalk rot lead the agronomic list. A long and girthy ear with plenty of flex provides top yield capability and a loose husk at maturity for great drydown. Responds to management as environment potential increases. Its size, vegetation and grain yield make it a good choice for silage selection as well as choice for continuous corn.

A defensive specialist with yield potential to span your toughest acres with confidence. Early season growth, emergence and stand establishment in cool, early season conditions and limited tillage. A wide plant stance with good lower canopy reach. Excellent root and stalk combination with late season integrity allows it to stand. Will hold moisture like 100 RM with late health and staygreen. Long, girthy ears with excellent kernel depth and a semi-flex ear type. Will respond to fungicide application to create as much kernel depth as possible. Drought and heat tolerance along with lower Goss’ Wilt risk allows far west movement.

Big ear flex potential in length and kernel depth, on a moderate stature plant and medium ear height. 98-70 has more deliberate emergence with good uniformity and strong early growth after emergence. Earlier flowering and long grain fill builds large, deep kernels. Good husk coverage does not slow drydown, while the quicker leaf senescence does not hurt the stalk integrity. Excellent companion for 97-62 with less plant height, and 99-90 with more consistency. This VT4P hybrid brings black cutworm, western bean cutworm and corn earworm protection over a SS with very good corn rootworm protection.

Outstanding yield potential coupled with an arsenal of terrific agronomics led by emergence, stalk and root strength, low greensnap risk, and drought tolerance. The girthy (18-20 rows), flex ear, and the high kernel count provides the yield that competes anywhere. This ear type is a great choice for VR seeding and increases performance in lower seeding rates at the same time can flex up and take advantage of a luxurious growing season. This hybrid moves well north and south of maturity zone cutting a wide path of utilization. Use caution westward, on farms with a history of Goss’ Wilt.

NEW BEANS THAT MAY RING A BELL
We’re taking soybeans back to a familiar place as well. We’re re-introducing the NC+ system for numbering soybean varieties. The existing, consistent-performing varieties you know will not change. But from this point forward, new varieties will feature the trait initial after the maturity number. It's all part of an effort to return to the NC+ you remember.
F2252 is a medium-tall variety which leans on the taller side with very good standability and great pod height to ensure all seeds go in the combine. It contains the Rps1c Phytophthora Root Rot gene with very good field tolerance. This variety has excellent drought and stress tolerance and is the top choice for variable fields and soil types. A solid defense is made up of very good tolerance to Iron Deficiency Chlorosis, Sclerotinia White Mold, Sudden Death Syndrome and Brown Stem Rot.
