We’re returning NC+ to the West. Who we are. Where we’ve come from. What we stand for. As part of that action, we’re re-introducing the NC+ system for numbering corn hybrids. We’ve gone into the archives. We’ve spoken with past NC+ product managers and salesmen. The result is the number system NC+ was built on. To be clear: the existing, consistent-performing hybrids and varieties you know will not change. But from this point forward, we’re going back to the roots of NC+.
Here are the maturity ranges for our new hybrid numbering system:
1001-1999: RM 93 and below
2000-2999: RM 94-97
3000-3999: RM 98-101
4000-4999: RM 102-105
5000-5999: RM 106-109
6000-6999: RM 110-113
7000-7999: RM 114-117
8000-8999: RM 118 and above
A new SmartStax® trait hybrid for central and southern corn growing areas with excellent heat tolerance. Has the Goss’ Wilt and Grey Leaf Spot tolerance to perform at a high level in continuous corn, grain systems. The solid emergence will help it establish in higher residue corn on corn. Sports a girthy (16-18 rows), blocky ear that will reach top end yields with medium to medium-high seeding rates. As water and management increase, so should the planting population. A hybrid with excellent response to fungicide and later season nitrogen availability. Strong stalk quality with very good greensnap ratings aid fall plant intactness with good stay-green.

Attractive plant with very good test weight and grain quality. Superior stalks and roots with excellent Anthracnose Stalk Rot tolerance. Harvest is made easy with excellent stay green and late season intactness. Semi-determinate ear performs best at medium to high plant populations. Very good green snap and Gray Leaf Spot tolerance aid strong Western movement. Adapted to all yield environments and performs best in and North of zone. A big, full season choice for continuous corn silage in the south central corn belt and mid-south. Excellent emergence, uniformity and early crop establishment. A tall, leafy hybrid with a strong and broad stalk built for top end. Has a girthy ear with very good flex for performance at moderate seeding rates. Solid tolerance to GLS, Physoderma and late season Anthracnose. Good drought defense in low to moderate rainfall environments. Excellent grain quality, test weight and yield, along with very high silage quality.

Excellent dual-purpose hybrid with high grain yield and very high milk per acre in Kansas and Texas with likely adaptation to Nebraska. Tall hybrid with long, wide leaves and quick canopy. 7971 has large girthy ears with deep kernels on a smaller cob and excellent test weight. The very good staygreen extends the silage harvest window. Since it has average NCLB tolerance, scouting or planning a fungicide application is the recommendation.

A hybrid with grain response from moderate farms to top end yield environments with stability in stress areas as well. A prime choice in corn on corn acres anchored with strong, girthy stalk quality, excellent defense against anthracnose stalk rot and healthy plants late in the season with good staygreen and intactness. An obvious dual-purpose hybrid with the size to provide great tonnage. The girthy ear boasting 18-20 kernel rows is very flexible producing high quality, high test-weight grain. One of our strongest recommendations for continuous corn in the south.

NEW BEANS THAT MAY RING A BELL
We’re taking soybeans back to a familiar place as well. We’re re-introducing the NC+ system for numbering soybean varieties. The existing, consistent-performing varieties you know will not change. But from this point forward, new varieties will feature the trait initial after the maturity number. It's all part of an effort to return to the NC+ you remember.
F2252 made substantial gains in Sudden Death Sydrome, Iron Deficiency Chlorosis and Sclerotinia White Mold field tolerance. Defensive traits are resistance for Soybean Cyst Nematodes, Stem Canker and phytophthora (Rps 1c). This Medium-Tall variety offers very good standability with an excellent branching tendency. Drought tested and proven during three years of field trials. A deep green and healthy canopy throughout the growing season. F2252 has an upright branching characteristic with very good standability at harvest.

This variety brings enhanced standability, phytophthora field tolerance and adds genetic resistance to Brown Stem Rot. F3252 is a Medium-Tall variety with excellent Charcoal Root Rot and stress tolerance. Strong multi-year performance has made this an ‘on-farm favorite’ with consistency. Expect quick emergence, excellent seedling vigor and standability. This Medium-Bush plant type should be planted at low to moderate populations. 38F51 is a Medium-Tall plant type with excellent lateral branching and adaptabilty into high yielding situations, especially irrigation and the very good soils of northeast Kansas. It responds well to narrow and wide row environments due to its Medium-Bush plant type. Avoid high pH soils and watch for Metribuzin and PPO carryover from a previous corn crop. It has very good tolerance to Sudden Death Syndrome with resistance to Stem Canker, SCN and phytophthora.
