WE'RE GOING BACK TO OUR ROOTS

We’re returning NC+ to the West. Who we are. Where we’ve come from. What we stand for. As part of that action, we’re re-introducing the NC+ system for numbering corn hybrids. We’ve gone into the archives. We’ve spoken with past NC+ product managers and salesmen. The result is the number system NC+ was built on. To be clear: the existing, consistent-performing hybrids and varieties you know will not change. But from this point forward, we’re going back to the roots of NC+.

Here are the maturity ranges for our new hybrid numbering system:

1001-1999: RM 93 and below

2000-2999: RM 94-97

3000-3999: RM 98-101

4000-4999: RM 102-105

5000-5999: RM 106-109

6000-6999: RM 110-113

This Hybrid's Story

Big robust plant with nice ear length and girth to perform across moderate and high yield levels. 93-32s an early SS hybrid with consistency across environments that will companion with 96-06 SS and increase the yield potential in better environments. Average flowering for maturity with husks that split open up and aid drydown. Good Goss Wilt and greensnap tolerance aids in the western adaptability, while the heat tolerance allows it to move into the 100 day RM zone. The later season staygreen and agronomics aid in the easy harvestability through the fall.

This Hybrid's Story

All purpose to offensive companion for 93-07 bringing top end yield and agronomics. Plants well early in cool spring conditions with very good emergence and crop establishment. A very good root system for anchor and nutrient gathering aids the drought tolerance. 94-60s semi-flex ear will prefer medium to medium-high seeding rates, especially as management increases. Caution on farms with a history of Goss Wilt. Position to yield on average to great farms!

This Hybrid's Story

An all-purpose hybrid adapted west to east with solid yield performance in the 150-220 bushel per acre yield environments. Strong agronomics, particularly its stalk and root combination, is a wide and robust plant style with moderate plant height. Will be average at emergence, then picks up speed to reach across the row with wide leaf area and strong early canopy. Flexible ear type that responds to moderate seeding rates. Good yield potential in maturity. Will dry rapidly. Great response to fungicide. A solid, consistent player.

This Hybrid's Story

A big, rangy hybrid with wide adaptation from east to west. Excellent emergence and vigor provide great establishment on every farm. Will get to canopy early preserving moisture along with good drought tolerance. In season stalk, greensnap, late season intactness with great defense against stalk rot lead the agronomic list. A long and girthy ear with plenty of flex provides top yield capability and a loose husk at maturity for great drydown. Responds to management as environment potential increases. Its size, vegetation and grain yield make it a good choice for silage selection as well as choice for continuous corn.

This Hybrid's Story

A defensive specialist with yield potential to span your toughest acres with confidence. Early season growth, emergence and stand establishment in cool, early season conditions and limited tillage. A wide plant stance with good lower canopy reach. Excellent root and stalk combination with late season integrity allows it to stand. Will hold moisture like 100 RM with late health and staygreen. Long, girthy ears with excellent kernel depth and a semi-flex ear type. Will respond to fungicide application to create as much kernel depth as possible. Drought and heat tolerance along with lower Goss’ Wilt risk allows far west movement.

This Hybrid's Story

Big ear flex potential in length and kernel depth, on a moderate stature plant and medium ear height. 98-70 has more deliberate emergence with good uniformity and strong early growth after emergence. Earlier flowering and long grain fill builds large, deep kernels. Good husk coverage does not slow drydown, while the quicker leaf senescence does not hurt the stalk integrity. Excellent companion for 97-62 with less plant height, and 99-90 with more consistency. This VT4P hybrid brings black cutworm, western bean cutworm and corn earworm protection over a SS with very good corn rootworm protection.

This Hybrid's Story

Offensive position hybrid with towering potential. Gets its yield from a tremendous, flexible ear with 18-20 row girth. Best fit in above average and high yield environments. Excellent emergence, vigor and uniformity gets 99-90 out of the gate with highly established stands. Stalk and root combinations are very good, especially in a medium-tall plant. Big flex ear performs well in moderate seeding and variable-rate seeding operations. Has great performance east and central, though will want to caution in areas with Goss’ Wilt history. Big potential across farms with environment potential and good management.

NEW BEANS THAT MAY RING A BELL

We’re taking soybeans back to a familiar place as well. We’re re-introducing the NC+ system for numbering soybean varieties. The existing, consistent-performing varieties you know will not change. But from this point forward, new varieties will feature the trait initial after the maturity number. It's all part of an effort to return to the NC+ you remember.
