WE'RE GOING BACK TO OUR ROOTS
We’re returning NC+ to the West. Who we are. Where we’ve come from. What we stand for. As part of that action, we’re re-introducing the NC+ system for numbering corn hybrids. We’ve gone into the archives. We’ve spoken with past NC+ product managers and salesmen. The result is the number system NC+ was built on. To be clear: the existing, consistent-performing hybrids and varieties you know will not change. But from this point forward, we’re going back to the roots of NC+.
Here are the maturity ranges for our new hybrid numbering system:
1001-1999: RM 93 and below
2000-2999: RM 94-97
3000-3999: RM 98-101
4000-4999: RM 102-105
5000-5999: RM 106-109
6000-6999: RM 110-113
7000-7999: RM 114-117
8000-8999: RM 118 and above
Versatile and widely adapted hybrid for North Dakota through Wisconsin with strong yield potential. Good fall staygreen with stalk and root strength, ease the harvest on 86-06. This medium height plant has a solid disease package, and good ear flex for performance across a wide range of populations. 86-06 will flower similar to 86-07 with earlier black layer, this makes it a great package with 86-07 and 88-77 for your operation. Good Goss Wilt tolerance enhances the adaptation for North Dakota.

A “go-to” hybrid with outside top end yield potential and equally good agronomics. An all purpose to offensive recommendation in the northern corn belt. Fabulous emergence and stand establishment in cool soils and reduced tillage. Yield separation from competitors from 150 to 250 bushel per acre yield environments. A semi-determined, girthy ear that will respond to increased seeding rates with upside yield environments. Medium-tall plant with moderate ear placement. Excellent greensnap tolerance with proven late season standability and plant integrity. A foundation hybrid on every farm.

Strong north-west corn belt defense. Establishes a great foundation early with excellent emergence and uniformity out of cool soils. A very good in season stalk builds a medium-tall plant with good canopy. The strong root system provides stability and increases the drought tolerance, allowing for movement west in the northern belt. Ear flex is very good and responds to moderate seeding rates and would avoid high planting populations. Good Goss’ Wilt tolerance though a bit lower defense against anthracnose and will want to monitor late stalks. Best performance west of the Red River Valley.

88-77 has a wide area of adaptation from tough to top end farms, with excellent emergence in cool soils and early growth. Great vigor and early canopy are characteristics of this medium height plant with a great stalk and root combination. It gives you confidence in standability from vegetative growth stages through harvest. Shows a blocky, semi-determined ear that requires above average seeding rates for top end yields. Very good Goss Wilt tolerance and agronomics lends itself to fit in the Red River Valley, and west into tougher conditions.

A rugged hybrid with yield punch. MW 90-72 moves west into drier and more difficult growing conditions very well. Lineup leading emergence provides a great start, uniformity, established stand and eventually an early canopy. Terrific root and stalk combination, drought and heat tolerance and low greensnap risk lead the list of agronomics. Has good Goss Wilt tolerance to allow far west movement. Is a compact, medium height plant with a flex ear that will respond to moderate seeding rates, but importantly the ability to respond to decent growing conditions. Is a very well rounded hybrid.

Great all around hybrid with defensive strengths and excellent yield potential. It has the reproductive ability for top yields, at the same time a tough plant to handle variable environments. Emergence, stalk and root strength, disease tolerance, late season standability and health highlight the agronomic menu. A moderate plant style that is compact and healthy throughout the season. Moves west very well with defense against Goss Wilt, lower greensnap risk and drought tolerance. 91-36 has a lean, long ear with deeper kernels for yield with good test weight. Increasing the seeding rate as the yield potential increases, pays dividends.

An offensive hybrid best placed in above average to high-end yield environments. Deliberate out of the ground with below average speed of emergence, though its high quality will provide uniformity. The agronomic package is led by a strong root system and very good Goss’ Wilt tolerance. The Goss’ strength will allow it to go west, though will want to watch drought tolerance. A girthy, flex ear allows for moderate seeding rates and can take advantage of timely rain and temperatures with extra yield punch. Is good with anthracnose stalk rot, though is not a hybrid for placement in saturated soils.

Top end yield potential in tougher soils. Has excellent emergence, early vigor and stand establishment allowing you to plant early in cooler soil conditions and reduced tillage. Is a very girthy, flex ear that produces 18-20 kernel rows, with best fit in average and below average seeding rates. Is early to flower, giving way to a longer grain-fill period, providing the yield punch. Performs best in more arid conditions with outstanding drought and heat tolerance. Avoid high OM / high fertility soils, particularly those with a tendency to stay saturated. Has very good response to fungicide. Caution on farms with history of Goss’ Wilt.

A complete confidence, all-purpose hybrid with excellent yield separation in 120-240 bushels per acre yield environments. Great choice for early planting dates and reduced tillage. Has tremendous emergence ability and stand establishment. Plant it central and northern areas for maturity. Medium-tall plant height with very good stalk strength, root strength and tolerance to greensnap. Will respond to medium-high seeding rates with a girthy ear-type (18-20 rows around). A confident hybrid for late season standability. Is one of those special hybrids you could plant the entire farm with.

NEW BEANS THAT MAY RING A BELL
We’re taking soybeans back to a familiar place as well. We’re re-introducing the NC+ system for numbering soybean varieties. The existing, consistent-performing varieties you know will not change. But from this point forward, new varieties will feature the trait initial after the maturity number. It's all part of an effort to return to the NC+ you remember.
F2252 made substantial gains in Sudden Death Sydrome, Iron Deficiency Chlorosis and Sclerotinia White Mold field tolerance. Defensive traits are resistance for Soybean Cyst Nematodes, Stem Canker and phytophthora (Rps 1c). This Medium-Tall variety offers very good standability with an excellent branching tendency. Drought tested and proven during three years of field trials. A deep green and healthy canopy throughout the growing season. F2252 has an upright branching characteristic with very good standability at harvest.
